Philosophy of Organization

The Foundation strongly believes that each person is born with a beautiful spirit, unique qualities, and great potential to make a positive impact in the world. We also hold that it is by believing in and seeking to realize one's God given purpose that we are able to overcome great challenges in life, experience happiness and ultimately reach our potential. We also believe that loving God, oneself, family and others; being a leader and follower, learning, laboring and allowing time for laughter and leisure are the essential ways in which one goes about seeking their ultimate purpose, and that they are, in themselves reinforcing behaviors which bring about spiritual, mental and physical health.

The Foundation is particularly focused upon reaching young people who have come from difficult circumstances and are 'at risk' because of either personal or familial poverty, mental illness, chemical dependency, delinquency and physical or developmental disabilities. We also hope that all people who view the message will be positively influenced.

The following methods will be implemented to enable the organization to carry out its mission:

  • High 5 fliers, brochures, jewelry, posters, plaques, pictures, cards, signs, videos, books, games, audiocassettes and billboards.
  • A High 5 website from which people can download and duplicate the flier and other information.
  • High 5 radio and television programs.
  • Dramatic, musical and spoken presentations in schools, churches, correctional centers, mental health centers, homeless shelters, nursing homes, assembly halls and open public places.
  • Large scale walk, jog, roller blade, skateboard, scooter, pogo stick, dance, bike-a-thons
  • Celebratory events in which at risk youths are introduced to potential mentors, who agree to do a monthly High 5 follow-up call for one year, and a yearly call until the youth is stable.
  • A rotating mentoring follow-up system, in which a group of approximately 6-12 youths can form a supervised High 5 "Huddle", and be exposed to a variety of positive lifestyles and ways of earning a living.
